World of Warcraft: Videos, Guides, News and more
“Cracks in Time” is the new story chapter in World of Warcraft. Chromie, Nozdormu, and the Bronze Dragonflight need our help to defeat the Infinite Dragonflight. Time anomalies are erupting throughout the Dragon Isles that we must eliminate in order to preserve the true timeline. But what exactly is the true timeline? What makes our Azeroth so special? And who is the mysterious herald that Iridikron is talking about in the new mega dungeon? The grand finale of “Dawn of the Eternal” leaves many unanswered questions, which we try to at least partially answer in this lore special.

Azeroth, Nozdormu and the true timeline
One of the five dragon aspects, the dragon Nozdormu has watched over the flow of time at the helm of the bronze dragonflight for eons. The supreme titan, Aman’Thul, once bestowed upon the Bronze Dragon Aspect the task of watching over the currents of time. The knowledge Aman’Thul bestowed on Nozdormu was more a curse than a blessing. Through the titan’s eyes, Nozdormu saw the day of his own death. Since then, Nozdormu has been trying to escape his terrible fate, but the shadow of Murozond, the evil image of himself, keeps catching up to him.
Nozdormu bears a heavy burden. The knowledge Aman’Thul bestowed upon the Warden of Time was more of a curse than a blessing. Through the Titan’s eyes, he saw his own dying day and all the terrible events that will happen in the future of Azeroth. Source: Blizzard Nozdormu, no matter how many times he tried to escape his fate in the past, always ended up turning into Murozond. In Dragonflight, the Guardian of Time once again falls into a vicious circle from which he cannot escape without our help. The Eternal Dragons destabilize the time streams and lure the Warden of Time into a trap. The flow of time is about to collapse and we must preserve Azeroth’s true timeline in order to restore order to the dangerous time anomalies.
But what exactly is the true timeline? The complex history of time travel has been a source of confusion for players for years. The flow of time is chaotic and there are countless timelines with different versions of Azeroth. We closed some time rifts and visited many alien worlds. Some are desolate and gloomy, while others are true utopias. The best example of utopia is Ulderoth. In this alternate timeline, the Old Gods never touched the world soul of the sleeping titan Azeroth. For the Titans, this world should be the best Azeroth? But that’s not the case. Though Ulderoth is a titan’s paradise, Aman’Thul has chosen our Azeroth as the true timeline. Why is our timeline so special and why do the titans want to preserve it at all costs?
