Netherrealm Studios are no strangers to incorporating superheroes and villains into their fighting games thanks to the Injustice series, various guest characters in Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat vs DC. It is therefore not surprising that this knowledge is used again for the series reboot Mortal Kombat 1. In the Kombat Pack 1 trailer we see veterans alongside the series Quan-Chi, Ermac and Takeda also Homelander, Peacemaker and Omni-Man.
Homelander comes from The Boys comic series, while Omni-Man is known to us from Invincible. Both are main antagonists in their respective universes. Peacemaker, on the other hand, is actually a superhero who doesn’t shy away from deadly violence and most recently made a media impact in Suicide Squad.
The trailer itself only offers a cinematic scene in which the DLC characters pose for a group photo. Since the division into good and bad can change in the reboot, it is not even possible to say at this point in time whether the veterans will take on their standard role here or not. We don’t see anything about the gameplay yet either. The Kombat Pack 1 will be part of the Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 1 (we reported). Also included are five Kameo Fighters and the Jean-Claude Van Damme Skin for Johnny Cage.
Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, Playstation 5 and PC.
