The new chocolate bons are already on the market, but the old version is currently still being sold. But this could still take a few weeks.
According to the manufacturer, only insect-free products will be sold in the future. According to Ferrero, the move is a response to “changing consumer expectations.” The group does not reveal whether the criticism of many consumers also played a role.
Shellac is also used by many other chocolate and candy manufacturers, including Milka, Mentos, Mars, Ehrmann and Trolli. It is unclear whether the competitors will soon do the same as Ferrero.
