, Bandung – Spotify has finally increased the price of its premium subscription plan for the first time in 12 years. This decision follows in the footsteps of its competitors who are implementing similar things such as Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music. This price increase was implemented in 50 countries, including Indonesia.
Here’s Spotify Premium’s New Price!
Spotify Premium is a special subscription package for users who want to hear unlimited and ad-free songs. It seems that the package price will be slightly more expensive. The reason is that the streaming service has raised the prices of all its Premium packages.
In the United States alone, the Premium Individual plan has now increased from US$10 to $11 per month. The Premium Family and Student packages also increase to US$17 and US$6 per month, respectively. Premium Duo actually increased by two US dollars per month from US$ 13 to US$ 15.
How about Indonesia? Now, the Premium Individual package costs from IDR 49,990 to IDR 54,990 per month. Meanwhile, the Premium Student package is now priced at Rp. 27,500 per month, while the price for the Premium Family package is now Rp. 86,900 per month.
This increase in the price of Spotify’s premium package is certainly not too surprising considering that its competitors have done the same thing. Apple Music was the first to increase its price last October, followed by Amazon Music last January. Lastly, YouTube Music increased its price recently.
As a Plan to Continue to Innovate
Through its official website, Spotify reveals the decision behind increasing the price of the Premium package as a plan to continue to innovate. The increased price will help the company provide value for fans and every musician on the platform.

Spotify claims to have more than 200 million Premium subscribers, making it the most popular audio streaming subscription service worldwide. The Premium plan features unlimited and ad-free music access, offline downloads, and high-quality music streaming.
Despite the rising prices, it seems that Spotify will still be the biggest music streaming service in the world.
