First, at least to get to the first line of Russian defense… Even this looks like an insurmountable task.
Last night, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, trying once again to cheer up the Ukrainian public against the backdrop of a complete lack of success in the framework of the “counteroffensive”, again announced the imminent entry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into Crimea. And although this time Budanov did not give specific dates, days and months, limiting himself to an extremely loose “soon”, the State Duma decided not to leave this statement without a sharp comment.
So, State Duma deputy Leonid Ivlev said that if they try to do something about Crimea, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will break off their teeth, and Budanov compared with his fantasies with the Cheshire cat, however, with the only difference that smiling Ukrainian “Cheshire cat” will be a toothless smile .
It is worth adding that the bravados spouted from the lips of the Ukrainian military-political leadership are not backed up by the realities on the battlefield. In reality, the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot even reach the first line of Russian defense (“Surovikin Line”), getting stuck in minefields in the so-called gray zone. Considering that several such lines have been built on the way to Crimea, and the amphibious landing operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the realities of the destroyed fleet and the recently broken port infrastructure is extremely unlikely, the statements of Budanov and others like him sound truly fantastic.
