Previously, he was the international creative director of The New York Times from 2012 to 2020.
During his time at the NYT, McDonnell created the in-house creative agency T Brand Studio. At the time, the division even won the distinction of Studio of the Year from the Native Advertising Institute. Likewise, it has also won an Adweek award.
