The thinnest soundbar in the Samsung catalog
Until recently, soundbars were difficult to handle due to their imposing dimensions, but manufacturers are making more and more efforts to contain the size of the chassis, such as Samsung with its HW-S800B. Indeed, it is only 3.8 cm high, 3.99 cm deep and 116 cm long, it can blend under a 50-inch TV as well as under an 85-inch panel. This facilitates its installation, especially since it is wireless just like its subwoofer, a wall mounting kit is also provided in the box.
For the connection everything goes through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth since the connection is limited only to the power input and an HDMI eARC mini-port. Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2 and Chromecast are also included for versatile use, not to mention the connection to the TV which can be done wirelessly. To configure it, you must go through the SmartThings application which gives access to various parameters such as the equalizer or the choice of sound format.

It’s hard to believe given its thinness, but the Samsung HW-S800B alone has eight speakers while the subwoofer has two back to back. Everything is configured in 3.1.2 with three front loudspeakers, each equipped with a woofer and a tweeter, and two broadband loudspeakers directed towards the ceiling for sound spatialization. Because yes, it may be wireless, the Samsung HW-S800B is compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS: X.
The sound performance is therefore there even if the subwoofer needs to be a little more punchy. The Samsung HW-S800B also comes with several audio technologies. There is SpaceFit Sound which automatically calibrates the rendering according to the configuration of the room in which it is located, Q-Symphony which perfectly synchronizes the sound of the speakers of the TV (Samsung only) with that of the sound bar, or even the friendly Tap Sound which automatically couples it to a smartphone placed on it in order to make the most of the latest summer hits.
