Lionsgate and Hasbro have confirmed they will join forces to produce a feature film based on the iconic board game “Monopoly”.
The companies have not yet disclosed the details of the project. Recall that attempts to film Monopoly were made by the same Lionsgate back in 2019. Then the main role in the film was to be played by Kevin Hart, and Tim Storey (Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) was chosen as the director. In addition, at one point Ridley Scott (Gladiator) was even assigned to the project.
Along with the news on Monopoly, it became known that Lionsgate is buying Hasbro’s entertainment subsidiary from Hasbro. Entertainment One (eOne). The deal, worth about $500 million, should be closed by the end of the year.
