Square Enix has announced that the online service bound to Dragon Quest X it will come deactivated next year, more precisely on March 20, 2024, on Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, as far as the affected markets are concerned.
The impact of the maneuver is rather limited in the West, considering that the MMORPG in question was in full swing only in Japanalso demonstrating a remarkable longevity considering a presumably not too large audience.
In any case, the game will cease online activity on March 20, 2024, which more or less corresponds to the end of activity in general for the game in question, being essentially an MMORPG. On the other hand, Square Enix has already proposed a version without online content, so this should solve the problem for big fans.
Dragon Quest X will be offline only

Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Offline is in fact essentially the same game but without the online features, developed precisely to allow the usability of the original title but without all the various duties of the MMO.
In this case, the offline version will therefore become the only one actually usable starting from March 2024, in a reorganization maneuver of Square Enix on the resources in the field. The publisher also recently communicated its financial results, which showed a collapse in profits and, consequently, also a 14% drop in the value of the shares, also due to the costs represented by Final Fantasy 16.
