In many ways, you have heard of the Adamantium Forge, a place protected by a giant guardian where exceptional pieces of equipment were forged. But where is this enigmatic place? In this Baldur’s Gate 3 article, we explain how to get there.
The Adamantium Forge… What’s the use of following this quest?
The Adamantium Forge in Baldur’s Gate III is, as its name suggests, a forge where you will be able to forge very high quality adamantium weapons and armor. Equipment pieces from this giant foundry will benefit the rest of your adventurebecause they bring immeasurable bonuses.
To give you an example, we have forged adamantium scale armor which grants the following bonuses:
Magical Harness: All damage received is reduced by 1. Adamantium Return Shock: When a melee attack hits you, your aggressor staggers for 2 turns. Attackers cannot critically hit the wielder.
Nevertheless, you will have to deserve this kind of equipment and the path to achieve it will be strewn with pitfallswhich is why we explain how to find it.
The Adamantium Forge is located at Malforge, a place occupied by the gnomes of the Depths and Nere, a follower of the Absolute. To get to Malforge, you will need to find the Decrepit Village in the Dark Underworld.
Traveling to the Dark Underworld
You can get to the Dark Underworld through the Goblin Camp. We explain how to achieve this.
Starting from the Great Hall of the Devastated Sanctuary, where the Goblin Priestess is, take the stairs to the left, then pick the first door in front of you. The goblins around won’t be happy to see you picking the lock on private property, so ungroup a member of your group then go pick the lock while crouching out of sight.
Once the door is open, enter the room, then pick the second door that will be next to the ladder. The easiest is over, you are now in the Desecrated Temple, however things will get tougher.
The premises are guarded by Polma, the priestess guardian, a formidable opponent. To have free rein on this place, you will have to persuade or intimidate her with a die of 20-22. Mission almost impossible, unless you have the luck of the hanged man. So, do not talk to him and use all possible tricks to obstruct the view of the guard to pass in the corridor which is on the left. Do not hesitate to use the turn-based mode, it can help you if your companions tend to get caught in the bag.
Before you can reach the Underworld, you will be faced with a puzzle. The solution is quite simple, move the stone discs so that there are four black dots at the bottom and four white dots at the top. Once the riddle is solved, the path to the Dark Depths is open to you!
Getting to Malforge
To get to Malforge, you will need a boat. You will find one at Decrepit village that lies below in the Dark Underworld – Beach. To find it, head west since leaving the desecrated Temple. The village is tinged with purple, you can’t miss it.
The position of the Adamantium Forge
Now that you’re in Malforge, climb the stairs from the bank then head south to find a large square with a tumbling area. The forge is behind the large lava plaza. To access it, use the skill Githyanki Psionic Power: Leap of Lae’zel from the square to reach ruins inaccessible to other characters. Continue your ascent until you come across a terrace with many pole arms racks and then go down the stairs which will be on your right. Take the waypoint, then teleport to this new point to bring your whole group. Just in front of the teleport point, a large staircase will lead you to the forge.
To activate the forge you will need to place in the mold compartment, a mold that is suitable for the machine and in the mithral crucible. Once these two elements are placed, all you have to do is pull the lever for the platform to take you to the heart of the forge. For the metal to heat up, you will need lava, so on the south platform, you just have to activate the newly available valve to bring up the fuel and Grym, the Keeper of the Forge.
Where to find a mold?
In the abandoned shelter From the abandoned forge, before the stairs leading to the Adamantium Forge, you can find some molds, including one for making scale armor.
Where to find mithral?

Whether you have level 4 or 5, don’t worry, Grym is an intentionally strong boss. It’s not with your attacks that you can weaken it, but with the help of the scenery and all the mechanisms around you. The lava will be a faithful ally to make him vulnerable and the hammer will be the most formidable weapon for him. However, it will be necessary to succeed in placing it correctly so that it can take the blows of the hammer.
battle strategy
Ungroup your group completely then place an ally on the platform where the valve is located (east), another on the lever (south), one in the center towards the crucible and then a last one on one of the remaining platforms. Climb your companion on the crucible before the lava invades the arena and then shoot the guardian from a distance. Prioritize a character capable of hitting his shots, even at long range, so the guardian will target him. It may happen that the guardian attacks the person who takes care of the valve, so pass the turn then repeat your attacks with your shooter placed on the crucible. Activate the lava valve for safety, then pass the turns of all your other allies and wait for the guardian to approach your shooter. Once the guardian is placed on the crucible or very close to it and in an overheated state, move your shooter on the platform behind him, then activate the lever so that the hammer hammers Grym. When the guardian is down, replace your shooter on the crucible and with the help of the other companions, take care of the imps, Back on your feet, the guardian will come closer to your character positioned on the crucible. Remember to activate the lava valve to permanently put the guardian in a state of overheating. Activate the lever, even if your companion is under the hammer, you must prevent the guardian from moving to always ensure the hammer blow.
Repeat these steps until Grym is dead, but two hammer blows should be enough to defeat him. Keep in mind that it is necessary to have a bait placed on the crucible to counter the unexpected movements of the guardian. Once the fight is over, you can collect your artwork and enjoy it as much as you want.
