While the Red Dead Redemption 2 mod that unlocks 60fps on PS5 continues to be discussed on the net, the independent programmer PureDark promises to ‘turbocharge’ the PC version of Rockstar Games’ western masterpiece with a fan-made patch that will introduce support to DLSS 3.
The modder who, in the past, has ventured into similar projects to bring DLSS 3 to Elden Ring and other video games, explains that he is working on the Red Dead Redemption 2 engine to implement the now well-known NVIDIA Frame Generator.
From the first tests conducted, PureDark reports a ~50% framerate increase on an AMD Ryzen 7 5800 CPU-based hardware configuration and a GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. The activation of DLSS 3, according to the modder, also offers obvious benefits in the reduced input latency and visual artifactsto the benefit of the gaming experience enjoyed by Arthur Morgan’s followers.
The work on this mod, however, has just started and will still require some time to be completed. Like all other PureDark fan made patches for games like TLOU Part 1, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Elden Ring and Skyrim, also the fan made patch which promises to introduce the DLSS 3 support in the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 is to be understood as one mod ‘premium’ downloadable only by those who participate in the fundraising campaign launched on Patreon by its creator.
