When you see the filmography of actor Harrison Ford, there is no doubt that his name will pass to posterity. Already one in the cinema, but not only! Since his debut, the actor has chained the roles and some are so cult that they have inspired scientists. From now on, the name of Harrison Ford will not only be in the books on the cinema: it will also be in the books of SVT!
Harrison Ford leaves his mark on pop culture… and on the side of Mother Nature
Within all of Steven Spielberg’s feature films, there is a license that has marked the public and, more broadly, pop culture: namely, Indiana Jones. Thanks to this trilogy, Harrison Ford’s career took off, reaching the firmament today. However, if actor hangs up his character’s Traveler and whiphe does not renounce, from the top of his 81 spring, to other roles to further establish his impact on Hollywood: we will find him, soon, starring in upcoming Captain America movie as well as Thunderbolts. Surprisingly, Harrison Ford will leave his mark well beyond the seventh art as evidenced by the following information.
Those who have already witnessed the adventures of the intrepid professor and archaeologist know that he is ready to brave all dangers. Well, maybe all but one! If we can believe that nothing scares him, Indy actually fears… snakes. In homage to the ophiophobia that strikes the character played by Harrison Ford – we all have in mind the famous sentence pronounced by Indy in Raiders of the Lost Ark (“Snakes… It had to be snakes”) –, researchers decided to take the name of the actor for the name of a new species found in the Peruvian Andes.
This animal hated by Indiana Jones now bears the name of its interpreter!
“Tachymenoides harrisonfordi”, here is a name that throws! Harrison Ford has been campaigning for the preservation of the environment for decades now and scientists have decided to reward this unfailing commitment on the part of the actor. As soon as a new species of snake was discovered, they decided to include a nod to the actor’s last name and one of his cult characters.. But this is not the first time that Harrison Ford has the right to such a privilege.
This discovery is a lesson in humility (…) It is a way of remembering that there is still so much to discover in our wild world – and that humans are only a small part of it. an incredibly vast biosphere (…) Scientists keep naming bugs after me, but they’re always the ones that terrify children. I don’t understand. (…) I even sing lullabies to my basil plantations so that they are not afraid at night.
In the past, other “critters” have had the right to bear the name of the interpreter of Indiana Jones. During his crazy adventures, the archaeologist had the opportunity to come across all kinds of species, but not all of them bear the name of the actor. Apart from an ant and a spider, maybe ! Yes, it’s not just the snake: scientists have already borrowed the name of Harrison Ford to name a spider (Pheidole harrisonfordi) and an ant (Calponia harrisonfordi). After the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the actor’s footprint will also remain in Mother Nature’s domain.
