From August 25 to September 10, Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines are hosting the 19th FIBA World Championship for men’s national teams.
32 teams take part in the tournament. This is the first World Cup to be hosted by Indonesia and the second to be hosted by both the Philippines and Japan since they first hosted the tournament in 1978 and 2006 respectively.
Spain are defending the title.
First group stage
The World Cup is held in three stages. At the first stage, 32 teams are divided into eight groups of four each (A-H). All teams in the group will play each other once. The top two teams from each group advance to the second group stage.

Second group stage
In the second group stage, the teams that qualified from the first round will be divided into four groups (IL). They will also play each other once. The top two teams from the IL groups will advance to the final playoffs.
