Due to some bad unforeseen events, Kinetic Games announces that the release of Phasmophobia on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, which was scheduled for this month, will have to be postponed for a few months, explaining the reasons for this decision.
The launch window moves to October 2023, with the hands pointing to the Halloween period. According to what was declared by the development team, unfortunately the office was involved in a bad fireas well as having to deal with some “unforeseen development issues”.
The combination of these two circumstances inevitably led to the decision to postpone the release of the game on the respective Sony and Microsoft home consoles. Initially, Phasmophobia was supposed to arrive on consoles in August 2023. The choice was commented on in an official press release:
“First of all, we would like to thank you all for your support and that you are as excited as we are for the console release. Due to a recent fire in our office building and unforeseen development issues, our ability of testing and development has been significantly impacted.
After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the console release, originally scheduled for August, until everything is sorted out. We are now aiming for a special launch during the week before Halloween, this October. This will give us time to perfect and fine-tune everything. Your patience and understanding mean the world to us and we can’t wait to bring Phasmophobia to consoles.”
Another bad blow for the game, which had already been involved in an unpleasant episode in the past in which an admin of the Discord channel was removed on charges of harassment.
