This is a science fiction film directed by a world famous filmmaker. And to go see it, you will have to go to a specific room.
A single room for this science fiction film! This is Darren Aronofsky’s (The Whale) next project named Postcards From Earth. Everything will only be presented on October 6, 2023 at the MSG Sphere, a sphere more than 112 meters high which is located in Las Vegas. Little information has been released about the feature film, however, the filmmaker gave some information during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter:
(The film, editor’s note) is a science fiction journey into the future, in which our descendants reflect on our common homeland
As for the choice to broadcast the film only at this specific location, Darren Aronofsky explains: “I see (this location, editor’s note) as an excellent opportunity to get people away from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip (a very well-known area of the city) and all the craziness created by man to immerse him as much as possible in the wonders and beauty of the natural world”. He adds that “cinema is an immersive medium that takes the viewer outside of their normal life” and that the project is an “attempt to amplify this immersion”.
A recognized director in his genre
Darren Aronofsky is recognized for his dramatic films and his thrillers. Most recently, on March 8, 2023, he released The Whale. The feature film follows the character of Charlie, an English teacher. He lives alone in his apartment and is in poor health. After breaking the bond with his daughter, he tries as best he can to reconnect with the teenager and have his last chance at redemption. Despite a decent box office score (54 million for a budget of 3 million dollars), the project won several awards, including the Oscar for best actor in a leading role for Brendan Fraser. The filmmaker has also directed cult works, such as Requiem for a Dream in 2000 or Black Swan in 2010. For the latter, the plot tells the descent into hell of a dancer, Nina (Nathalie Portman) dreaming of playing the swan white in the famous ballet Swan Lake. Black Swan was a hit, grossing over $329 million on a budget of $13 million.
