BG3 is a game that is particularly designed to be able to play with friends. The problem is that some multiplayer features were absolutely not optimal for having a good time. So, on the Larian Studio side, we listened to player feedback and adapted during the last big update!
A feature that players have been requesting for a while
In previous opuses, or even in games inspired by the license, you could often take companions up to a group of 6 in your adventures. Except that for Baldur’s Gate 3, the new limit is 4 players.
The problem is that sometimes more people want to join this part. Second problem, if one of the players was less available, it was simply impossible to dismiss him to gain a spot in your group for a new player.
So, some started to complain to Larian Studio asking that this situation be resolved. Recently, theThe studio released a big patch including a new ending for the Karlach arc. A patch that you can find here in detail.
Except that in addition to these new features and performance improvements, we also find the announcement of a completely new functionality which will precisely meet the needs players looking to make some room in their group to go on an adventure!

In fact, you will now be able to temporarily exclude a member of your team to make room for a new one. For that, you’re going to have to put it in the closet, literally! Indeed, it will be put in a cupboard while awaiting its return.
This way, the game master can easily manage the team based on the players present. Besides, know that as long as you are put on the shelf, you will gain experience so as not to be too below everyone when you return.
For this option to be available in your game, you will simply need to make sure of one thing: having rescued Withered. Indeed, it is via the latter that you will be able to manage who takes part in the adventure and which will stay in the closet for a little while.
Once the latter is rescued and arrives at your camp, interact with the character you want to temporarily send away by asking him to leave the group and wait at the camp. Then click on the wardrobe present on site to add it there and if necessary bring it back later.
