Samar Studio has announced that The Front, an open-world survival shooter coming to PC later this year, will enter closed beta testing from September 3 to 8. Players can register for the beta now at playthefront.com or on Steam.
Front takes place in a post-apocalyptic sandbox inhabited by mutant zombies and hostile factions. In another reality, a tyrannical empire conquered the world and implemented a global “civilian” policy. Using surveillance devices, a ruthless will to kill, and advanced technology, the empire seeks to change humanity forever. Already deprived of freedom, faith and, in many cases, life, people are on the verge of losing what they call home. Surviving members of the human resistance turn to time travel technology to return to the past and correct the course of history.
In the war-torn land of the Front, players will face off against Imperial forces, exiles, and rebels in an epic battle that will determine the fate of humanity. In their fight to rewrite the world’s future, players will explore ruins and enemy territories, craft weapons and equipment, build structures and settlements, control vehicles, battle the elements, and battle formidable enemies. Players are presented with a 36 km² open world consisting of many different biomes, each with their own resources and ecosystem.
Danger is everywhere in The Front, and players will have to work together to survive. Building a base with adequate defenses is important, but trusted friends can mean the difference between death and survival when exploring the world for resources and hundreds of crafting recipes – especially when fighting waves of enemies. Players have access to many different building modules and over 100 different components to create electrical systems, irrigation systems, automated defenses, traps and more.
