The first reviews of Starfield showed that Xbox Series X|S and PC are in for a real hit. Of course, not every critic or player has to agree with such good ratings that Bethesda’s game receives. However, as it turned out, one of the reviewers had to deal with an extremely rude reaction after he gave the game a low rating.
Alejandro Castillo, editor of MeriStation, recounted his not-so-pleasant experience on Platform X (formerly Twitter). According to the author of the message, he received insults and threats that directly stated: “We will get you” or “We will skin you.” A journalist was bullied after giving Starfield a 5.8/10 rating.
Insults, threats. “We’ll get you.” “We’ll skin you.” These are echoes of that same society without any restrictions, without education, that same screaming society for which there are no consequences. Today I am the victim of a hunt. And yesterday it was one of my colleagues. But tomorrow someone else could become a victim. How soon will common sense prevail?
Castillo decided to draw public attention to this issue and show how explosive emotions associated with ratings or reviews of games can be. The editor’s presentation of his own opinion, which in some way differs from the mainstream, caused a very aggressive and completely unjustified reaction. Therefore, we should not forget that such cases do occur.
And finally, let us remind you once again that the release of Starfield on PC and Xbox Series X|S will take place tomorrow (September 6, 2023). It is also worth remembering that not everyone should like Bethesda products, and in case of a different view on this or that game a much better solution would be a cultural exchange of views about it.
