A few hours after ESA announced a big revolution for E3 2025, Geoff Keighley confirms (again) that Summer Game Fest 2024 will be held next year.
The response has been immediate. And, frankly, it’s not a surprise. Geoff Keighley was a big fan of E3, but in recent years has become the great competition at the Los Angeles video game fairgracias a Summer Game Fest.
The decline of E3 is a reality. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the most important video game fair has seen its return for this year frustrated, thanks to ReedPopfor lack of props.
And there was Summer Game Fest 2023 to fill the gap for gamers. It was a good event, there is no doubt, although many were disappointed by the absence of great new hits in their announcement schedule.
As soon as the event concluded, Geoff Keighley confirmed not one, but two upcoming editions of Summer Game Festwhich will be held in the months of June 2024 and 2025.
Today we learned about an important decision regarding the return of E3. ReedPop abandons the organization of the fair, and ESA takes the reins again.
Summer Game Fest 2024 confirmed
This afternoon, Geoff Keighley has moved the file looking ahead to next summer. 2023 has been a great year for the industry, but next 2024 is also expected to be a year full of great launches.
He had already confirmed it previously, but now it is 100% official for the media: Summer Game Fest will return next summerwith a spectacular setting in Los Angeles.
It has been confirmed by Geoff Keighley on his official Twitter accountthrough the following message:
”Next June, Summer Game Fest returns to Los Angeles for a spectacular celebration of what’s next in the video game industry. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months!”
We still don’t know the exact date, but it is a fact that Summer Game Fest will return in June 2024 with more trailers, more surprise announcements and new content in the middle of summer.
It is a clear response to the latest information revealed by ESA, the organizing company of E3, which does not rule out holding a 2024 edition. However, the possibilities of cancellation are there.
What seems clear is that E3 will return, although we will have to wait until 2025. ESA prepares a great revolution for the video game fairwhich would leave Los Angeles to bet on a new format.
Will they win enough support to carry it out? It’s an unanswered question (yet), but we’ll have to see how Geoff Keighley responds with his Summer Game Fest by then. We will see the presenter again on December 7 at The Game Awards 2023.
