Despite the arrival of new content on Pokémon Go, players are unhappy with the way Niantic advertises it.
Pokemon Go is making waves with controversial new content in its store called “Great Storage Box”. For some time, players have been unhappy with the game and this new addition does not help matters. Among the criticisms, they denounce the lack of elements to facilitate the storage of Pokémon, a problem increasingly present with the gradual addition of new monsters. As a solution, for the modest sum of 675 PokeCoins, the player can receive three battle passes, a Super Incubator and above all a single storage update. However, it is not possible to purchase the box directly since you must first purchase a pack of 1200 PokeCoins for the modest sum of… €9.99.
On the PokemonGo subreddit, users have denounced the misleading highlighting of the name of the offer. As ArieLast tells it: “I was probably expecting 4 or 5 levels (of storage, editor’s note) but no.” They can at least console themselves by telling themselves that they are not getting a bad deal. If we take all the items in the box, the total cost would be 900 PokeCoins while the “Great Storage Box” is only 675, a 25% discount.
Players and micro-transactions, a complicated story
Even if this Pokémon GO offer finally allows users to win something, the incitement to micro-transactions sometimes spoils the fun of the game a little. Today, many games use this type of payment as a means to sustain the life of a video game. Even EA Sports and its famous, but no less controversial, FIFA, now called EA Sport FC, use it.
We remember that in its flagship mode Ultimate Team, the player must build his dream team using cards. To do this, two options are available to you: either you play to obtain the in-game currency to exchange for the desired footballer, or you open lootboxes to find the precious sesame. The problem is that the different packs do not guarantee that you will get the player you want. For these reasons, of countries have decided to ban gambling for “concealed practice of gambling”.
