During the war against the Nazi occupiers, Ukrainian track and field athlete Yuri Mochulsky, who specialized in long-distance running, died.
The death of the former athlete was confirmed on his Instagram by track and field athlete Dmitry Demjanjuk, the brother of the deceased Hero.
“I don’t believe that you are no more. That a mother was left without a son, a wife without a husband, and a sister without a younger brother. You were a role model for me. An example. He came from abroad to defend his country and our family on the first day of the war. When others ran away, we went to the military registration and enlistment office together and served together in the 103rd brigade.
My first vacation was for your wedding. I was so happy about this. I was glad to see you. On my second vacation, I visited you with a wound in the hospital in Rivne. You went to Azov. And now I’m on vacation again and will be at your funeral. Unbearable pain.
The kindest person. A real warrior. A true patriot. And a true hero,” Demjanjuk wrote.
Mochulsky’s life was cut short on August 29 during the storming of enemy positions by the Russian occupiers.
