Huawei has announced a new foldable smartphone, the Mate X5. It features a 7.85-inch internal flexible screen and a 6.4-inch external display.
The Mate X5 folds in half horizontally, although once upon a time, in the first generations, there was only one display, which was larger or smaller depending on the unfolding or complexity. However, the Samsung form factor won.
The internal screen has a resolution of 2496 x 2224 pixels, and the external one has a resolution of 2504 x 1080 pixels. Both support refresh rates from 1 to 120 Hz.
The smartphone is equipped with a Kirin 9000s processor based on 7 nm standards, 5G, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory. The main camera has three modules – 50 MP, 13 MP and 12 MP and two front cameras of 8 MP, one on the internal display, the second on the external one.
Mate X5 runs on the HarmonyOS 4.0 operating system. Everything should be ok with autonomy – the battery here is 5060 mAh with support for 66 W fast charging.
The smartphone is available in several colors with a glass or leather back panel. The price has not yet been announced, but the company seems to have adopted one of Elon Musk’s tricks: they are offering a special edition of the Mate X5 for a deposit, but the price has not been announced at the moment, and they are asking for a deposit of 1000 yuan ($136), as this I once made Teslas from their CyberTrack. The start of sales is expected in a week on September 15th.
