HTC Vive XR Elite at the best price?
An unusual design, but successful
The HTC Vive XR Elite is based on a design different from other headsets on the market. It takes the form of glasses, and it’s quite successful. It impresses with its compactness, because instead of opting for an imposing case as with some competitors, it feels like wearing real glasses.

The weight is well distributed and the controllers get the job done. Comfort is also in order, we find the foam pad for the skull with a soft coating inside to be able to support it longer. It has the advantage of being detachable for easier cleaning, a good point for hygiene.
Powerful, but not flawless
Regarding the display, there are two LCD screens in 4K definition of 3840 by 1920 pixels, with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a field of vision of 110° maximum. Considering the price, it is a shame not to find Oled, a refresh rate of 120 Hz or better definition. Colors are rather bland and blacks appear quite gray. This is still sufficient to find your way around your environment in mixed reality mode.
The headset runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chip coupled with 12 GB of RAM. Necessary power since it does not need a computer to operate. Games launch very quickly, the same goes for applications. Overall, the headset does not suffer from any slowdown. The HTC headset is equipped with four tracking cameras to “see” the environment, supplemented by a camera with a 16 Mpx color photo sensor to retransmit what we should see without the headset. Navigating the Vive XR Elite’s interface, one finds similarities to stock Android, with similar menus and icons. It is reliable and easy to use.
As for autonomy, the manufacturer announces a two-hour hold and if you want to prolong the experience, you can very well recharge the battery while using the Vive XR Elite.
