If you’ve looked at our Paladin or Warrior guides for BG3, you know that for these roles, playing with a polearm is a very good choice. Unfortunately, these are quite rare weapons. So, we guide you to find a very good one from act 1!

Where to find Bernard in Baldur’s Gate 3?
The first thing to note is that if this weapon can be found in the first act of Baldur’s Gate 3, you will still need to have progressed a minimum! Indeed, it is in the depths and more precisely at the level of the Arcane Tower that you can obtain it.
Problem, this tower is protected by turrets which can quickly hurt. So, to get around them, we advise you to go at the level of the mushrooms that we have indicated to you in red on the map below. Once there, you should be able to access the tower.
The best way to do this is to use a Misty Step spell or a spell to remove fall damage. Once you are inside, progress through the tower and you will finish by meeting Bernard, an automaton who guards the place.
There, a choice is offered to you: either you have read the books in the tower and you are able to answer the questions about the droid’s poems, which avoids the confrontation. Or, as we are going to do here, you decide to launch the fight against Bernard until you defeat him.
Collect the weapon and the ring from Bernard
Why did you choose to fight him? Well, as you can imagine, it is he who has the polearm that will interest us here. This is also very interesting at the start of the game given that it will inflict 1d10 + 1 damage and that on top of that, it will inflict 1D6 lightning damage!
It’s a very good weapon except for one detail! Indeed, if you have read the fine print completely, you will realize that unless you are an automaton yourself, then the weapon has a chance of knocking you out, which, let’s be clear, is not practical!
Fortunately, there is a way to avoid this. The first thing to do will therefore be to recover the ring that Bernard has. This last, he will have the ability to infuse an object with an aura of light and we are going to need it quickly!
Once everything is collected, make sure to equip the ring we just told you about on one of your characters and then go to the elevator level of the tower. There, a button should appear, allowing you to reach the Arcane Tower cave.
Once down, head to the southeast of the area. There you will find a table with different blue chemical preparations. A little hidden next to it is a chest. Open it and you will find a ring that makes you immune to lightning damage.
The good news is that like the stun of the weapon we told you about before is precisely made up of lightning damageas long as you wear this ring on the character who owns it, the latter will simply be immune to the effects of the weapon!
