It’s time, apple, to learn from the Galaxy Note 7
The French radio frequency regulatory agency ANFR has banned Apple from selling the iPhone 12 smartphone in France due to exceeding the permissible level of specific absorption capacity (SAR).
Apple must release an update for the iPhone 12 within 15 days that will reduce radiation levels to normal. If the company fails to do this, France could force it to recall all iPhone 12 units sold.
SAR shows the level of electromagnetic energy absorbed by the human body when using a phone. In France, the norm is 2 W/kg for holding at the head and 4 W/kg in the pocket. According to ANFR, the iPhone 12 exceeds the second standard, showing 5.74 W/kg.
Apple says the iPhone 12 meets all regulations worldwide. However, the company had already stopped selling this model after the announcement of the iPhone 15, so they realized it a little late. However, if the problem cannot be fixed programmatically, Apple will face serious consequences in France and the EU and may have to recall all smartphones.
It seems that the lucky ones who bought the iPhone 12 a few years ago in France may become truly lucky for the second time: if Apple is forced to return these smartphones at the price at which iPhone 12 users bought it before, people will have a trade-in on the layer. So, we root for the French, but we want it to be the same for us.
