It was possible to turn it on even in Performance mode.
The developers of Spider-Man 2 gave a long technical interview to the editors of IGN. Representatives from Insomniac Games talked about the game graphics and shared new gameplay footage, here are the most interesting moments from their story.
The player character can move around the city approximately 3 times faster than in the first Spider-Man. By default, ray tracing is always enabled in Spider-Man 2: even in Performance mode. The developers do not list all the effects that use ray tracing, but with its help it is accurate reflections are considered.Spider-Man 2 will receive a completely new three-dimensional sound system. The sound will be noticeably more realistic than in previous games. The game uses dynamic resolution and temporal anti-aliasing, which allows you to increase the quality of the picture at a lower resolution. Spider-Man 2 supports VRR and 30/40/60 frames per second. Character models will be more detailed than in previous games. A new hair rendering system will appear, they have become noticeably more realistic. New hair can be seen on both Mary Jane and Kraven: he has hair “everywhere”. Now the hair is affected by the wind, it has a physical model. I had to tinker with the symbiote: it cannot be animated in the usual ways, and the symbiote should not be too fluid and not too hard. The lighting for each scene in cutscenes is set separately. If you look at the cutscenes using a free camera, it becomes clear that the lighting changes a lot.
Spider-Man 2 will be released on October 20, 2023 for PlayStation 5.
