Actually, Paper Mario fans currently have reason to be happy. Finally, a remaster of Paper Mario: The Legend of the Aeon Gate was announced during the recent Nintendo Direct. Just this remaster, which 2024 should appear, convinced many viewers at first glance. The classic role-playing game from the Gamecube would finally appear on a modern console, far away from the horrendous prices for the original on platforms like eBay. But a technical disadvantage compared to the Gamecube title may have already emerged.
Worse frame rate in the remaster?
A report from the website Nintendo World Report is currently making the rounds. This is where the trailer that Nintendo showed at the end of the most recent Direct is analyzed. The result: Paper Mario 2 apparently runs on the Switch 30 frames per second. The original from 2004, however, runs at 60 frames per second.
There is no official confirmation of this from Nintendo to date. A demo that you could use to test this yourself has not yet been published. It should be said that the remaster or remake (here too, no specific term has been chosen yet) is not just Paper Mario 2 in a higher resolution. The graphics of the role-playing game have been completely revised.
As long as the game runs stable when it is released next year, criticism of the frame rate should be limited. At the same time, it should be observed how the new edition of the classic will perform visually in comparison to the Gamecube game from Intelligent Systems.

When it comes to Nintendo, the successor to the Switch is dominating the reporting these days. This is said to have finally been presented behind the scenes at Gamescom. In the eyes of many fans, a first game for the Switch 2 already seems to be on the horizon. Nintendo certainly can’t complain about the sales figures of the hybrid console.
