This character from Baldur’s Gate 3 breaks the fourth wall of the game, he demonstrates it with some quite sinister dialogues. As it could not be otherwise, there are spoilers in this article and anyone who doesn’t want to find out has time to leave.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is amazing on PC, Steam Deck and PS5 (soon on Xbox Series X|S), but Running has created a character of the CRPG so that he breaks this fourth wall and realizes that he is in a videogame.
Despite its multiple secrets, Easter Eggs and oddities, BG3 still has a lot hidden. But as PC Gamer tells us, a dataminer has been able to activate a dialogue through a scene where this same thing is revealed.
Karlach apparently realizes and is aware that he is a character in a game and can speak directly through the screen; and even to the soul of the player.
It all begins when one’s own Karlach suggests trying something he learned from a Zariel clerica technique for looking someone in the eyes and determining whether they are telling the truth or not.
But things immediately go wrong and she stops looking at the main character, instead she looks at the game screen and it seems as if she is looking at the person behind the screen.
When this dataminer plays the question game, Karlach gets much more than he bargained for and glimpses reality: “I see… a big spider web,” he says while staring at the screen.
This is not about mods or fantasy genre D&D, it is much more
“Lines that intersect – permutations – and behind them, chaos. And then the hand that decides: yes, no. But it barely knows itself,” she continues as she sees her own place in the spider’s web.
“I’m trapped here, forever. In these tangled lines, within these hundred hours, or less, or more…”, all while not looking away; bothering
But Karlach appears to speak on behalf of Larian Studios for a moment: “You’re having fun, right?” he asks the player. Here there is free response and in different ways, but it is clear that there is fun.

The aforementioned medium sees this as normal, in Baldur’s Gate 2 you could rescue some adventurers turned into stone and give them a mission. But they betrayed you, they failed and to top it off they loaded their saved game.
Chubblot is the author of this discovery and by publishing it on Twitter he had response from Samantha Béart: “Congratulations on finding this. Maybe I’ll talk about it when someone activates it organically (instead of launching the file and then getting confused).”
For this reason, it is true that Karlach’s character in Baldur’s Gate 3 can break the fourth wall and tell us how he feels. How far can they go? secrets in the Larian game?
