The mobile device market is largely driven by processors developed for our cell phones. There are currently four major chip manufacturers, from Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung and Apple. Furthermore, the cutting-edge technology lies in standard or lithography at 3 nm for these semiconductors, but few manufacturers are able to produce them.
Among these we now have MediaTek announcing its next generation of processors at 3 nm, expected to hit the market in early 2024. Until then, however, Apple remains the only manufacturer to have its chipsets at 3 nm. nm on the market with the A17 Pro processors, present in the iPhone 15 Pro range.
MediaTek has already made its first 3 nm Dimensity processor official
We also expect Qualcomm to launch, later this year, its next Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, also at 3 nm lithography, to equip next year’s top of the range models.
In any case, MediaTek will be the first to have chipsets with this standard for Android mobile devices ready for sale.
It should be noted that the actual manufacturing of the semiconductors will be the responsibility of TSMC, the firm in charge of producing the components requested by MediaTek.
In any case, from now on, more and more technology companies will develop their new 3 nm solutions and then order their production.
As MediaTek itself points out, in an official press release, “it has successfully developed its first chip using cutting-edge 3 nm technology from TSMC”.
This will be its next high-end processor to lead the Dimensity family and will hit the market next year, with production starting in the first months of 2024.
18% faster and 32% more efficient thanks to 3nm lithography
The real advantages of MediaTek’s next high-end chipset are clear. We will have a 18% improvement in processing power or objective performance of the “engine”. Furthermore, it will consume less energy, even 32% greater energy efficiency.
Furthermore, the next processor is expected to have the same core configuration as its predecessor. It must also maintain the maximum processing frequency, which makes the advantage of the new 3 nm lithography even more evident.
In short, we have real improvements for MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300, a processor that will be manufactured by TSMC, based on this new technology. However, for now we don’t know exactly when this chipset will actually hit the market.
There is only indication of the second half of next year as a likely time for this.
2nd half of 2024 is the date set for arrival on the market

In any case, Apple will be the first to place a 3nm mobile phone processor on the market. There we will also feel the real improvements in raw processing “power”, in addition to lower energy consumption, which always favors battery life.
Finally, we expect these MediaTek processors to arrive on the Android market in early 2024, with no definitive date yet for their availability to smartphone manufacturers.
MediaTek’s next-gen flagship mobile chipset will offer big core performance & intelligent power efficiency. Its ground-breaking design, development & features are on schedule to launch with our 1st customer in Q4. Rumors claiming otherwise are completely inaccurate. Stay tuned.
