The future Princess Peach Showtime! for Nintendo Switch is NOT the first game starring the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, although you may not remember this DS classic.
The times they Are a changing. Originally, Mario was the one who rescued Peach, as we have seen in all kinds of games in the Nintendo franchise. However, the Super Mario Bros. movie laid the first stone to change the princess’s personality forever.
This will be seen in Peach’s next solo video game, officially announced in the recent Nintendo Direct. His name is Princess Peach Showtime!y will arrive in 2024 to the hybrid console.
The fact that Peach being the main protagonist (with the absence of Mario, Luigi, Toad and company) is not as new as it seems. And if you are a veteran of video games, you will know it very well.
Princess Peach Showtime is not the first game starring the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. That honor belongs to Super Princess Peacha 2D platform game released in 2005 for the Nintendo DS.
You may not remember it, but it was one of the first Nintendo DS first party exclusives, which took advantage of the use of the stylus and the touch screen to revolutionize the classic formula of the saga.
Peach already starred in a game… with a very surprising ending
Super Princess Peach fue one of the best Nintendo DS games, which breathed new life into the saga. It was also a revolutionary game due to its concept of emotions, which we could consult on the console’s touch screen.
In this title, Peach had to rescue Mario, Luigi and the Toad from the clutches of Bowser. The evil King Koopa had kidnapped our heroes on Sensa Island.
To do this, Peach had her characteristic umbrella (called Brillita). In addition to rescuing Mario and company, we also had to recover a valuable object called Sensacetro (Vibe Scepter in English), which was able to generate emotions under Bowser’s orders.
The most surprising thing (the term is an understatement) is its outcome. Once we defeated Bowser in the final battle, credits are shown while Peach, Mario, Luigi and Toad return happily to their kingdom.
It was shown The next message (translated into Spanish):
”The sensacetro has strange and mysterious powers, that’s for sure”
”How do you feel after this adventure?”
”One more thing about the scepter: no one knows who created it or why, but…”
”Somewhere, someone might use it correctly”
”That?”
”Your father was angry with you the other day, right?”
”Has your mother laughed very happily?”
”Maybe… just maybe… the sensacetro is hidden in some corner of your house”
You must have been shocked. We are not bad-thinking, because the joke is made on purpose. Obviously, the little ones in the house didn’t get the reference (and it’s better than not).
What the creators of the game were referring to is a vibrator. You only have to read the message in English (translated it loses force), to realize the ”joke”. As always, judge for yourself, but we see few alternatives, honestly.
It is also played with double meaning, since Happiness and anger were two emotions that we could manage in Super Princess Peach, both with and without the sensacetro.
Super Princess Peach is really the first Nintendo game starring the princess. If you want to give it a try, you should know that it is only available in its original cartridge for Nintendo DS. Will Princess Peach Showtime have another hidden message?
