Directed by Ryan Murphy, this true story adapted into a mini-series has won over the public. And it’s available on Netflix.
Fame and luxury in one series! In 5 episodes of 45 to 50 minutes, “Halston” follows the story of Roy Halston Frowick. This name may mean something to you and that’s normal. He is, in fact, a fashion icon in the 70s. The Netflix TV show therefore mainly focuses on the transformation of his name into an international multi-million dollar brand. It also depicts the life of this creator full of excess. A project that pleases the public as shown by the 80% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. In France, it also gets a good rating: 3.9/5 on AlloCiné. Despite some mixed reviews, Halston is applauded by Ewan McGregor’s performance. The latter is particularly known for having played in Star Wars and his interpretation is described as being “flamboyant” and “breathtaking”. We can also find Bill Pullman (Independence Day) and French actress Rebecca Dayan (H.) who play David Mahoney and Elsa Peretti respectively. On the production side, fans can rediscover the work of Ryan Murphy (Dahmer, American Horror Story).
The many inspirations of Ryan Murphy
Ryan Murphy is known for having directed numerous series, such as Glee or American Horror Story. If the latter reveals certain sordid news stories in the United States, the filmmaker has, many times, worked on biopics. One of his most popular and controversial projects includes Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. As the title suggests, this 2022 mini TV show features one of North America’s most famous serial killers. The latter raged in the 1980s and 1990s in Milwaukee and caused nearly 20 victims. After that, it was the series The Watcher which was also broadcast on Netflix the same year. The latter follows the true story of a young couple who, after moving into a new house, discover that they are being watched and are also harassed by frightening letters. On the Disney+ side, fans can discover other Ryan Murphy projects like American Horror Story, but not only that. They can also watch American Crime Story. It is an anthology series where each season features a different court case.
