Meanwhile, new documents from the legal proceedings between Microsoft and the US competition authority FTC are coming to the surface again. In addition to the plans for Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls 6, data has now also been leaked regarding new gaming hardware that will be released next year. The code names Brooklin, Ellewood and Sebile, which belong to new Xbox consoles and a controller.
The Xbox plans for the coming year
Microsoft itself is talking about the refresh of the Xbox Series X and S, with the former being described as the “most powerful Xbox of all time”. The new Xbox Series X differs visually and technically from the original model and, according to the leaked documents, takes on a cylindrical shape. Furthermore, it is fully digital, so there is no CD drive, and the memory has been increased from one to two terabytes. There should be a USB-C port at the front for charging, as well as Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 radio. In order to improve efficiency, the document states, the chip should have been manufactured in 6 nm.
The improved Xbox Series S, Ellewood, which has 1 TB of storage, will be released in September 2024 for $299, according to Microsoft’s roadmap, which also comes from the documents. Brooklin, the improved Xbox Series X, is scheduled to arrive in November 2024 for $499. There is still talk of additional storage options being announced in the second half of fiscal year 2025. The consoles come with the Sebile controller, which comes in a black and white design and is said to have an acceleration sensor for gyro support.
When it comes to connectivity, Microsoft lists connections via Bluetooth 5.2 and to the cloud. Reference is also made to precise haptic feedback as well as quieter buttons and (modular) thumbsticks, rounded off by rechargeable and replaceable batteries. According to the roadmap, the Sebile controller will be released in June 2024 for $70; At the same time, the new consoles will be announced.

The products mentioned have already been financed, but according to the court document, Microsoft still has other ideas in its kitty that are not yet fully funded. These include, among other things, an elite controller and a luxurious model that are codenamed Actium and Zarasai. While these still seem to be a thing of the future, Xbox fans have reason to be excited for next year.
