The age-old problem of analogue stick drift on gaming pads may have finally been solved by Revolution 5 Pro, the new premium controller announced by Nacon.
Officially licensed by PlayStation and coming soon in October at the price of 229.90 euros, the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro is the first ninth-generation console controller made by the company. It will be the first PS5 pad to hit shelves with anti-drift functionality of analog sticks, specifically a Hall Sensor that uses small electromagnets to transmit directional inputs, as opposed to the small resistors used in thumbsticks that wear out over time. The Revolution 5 Pro controller will be available in black and white and features four mappable rear buttons. While it’s primarily meant to be used on the PS5, it is also compatible with PS4 and PC.
“This new model from the Revolution line is the culmination of years of development and Nacon’s passion for gaming. We wanted to create the best controller possible, a controller that gave players an edge. The Revolution 5 Pro combines the best of our experience, technological innovation and ergonomics,” said Yannick Allaert, head of Nacon’s accessories division.
Nacon said sustainability was clearly an important part of the design of this controller, which will allow key components to be repaired and replaced. The controller is wireless and has a lifetime of rated battery life of 10 hours, although it works in wired mode via USB-C. A 3.5mm headphone jack input is included, but the Revolution 5 Pro will also be able to connect to wireless headphones via Bluetooth.
Just like the Nacon Revolution Unlimited for PS4, it will be possible to add extra weights in the grips of the Revolution 5 Pro, allowing you to customize the feel according to your preferences. There are also trigger stops, which Nacon calls “Trigger Blockers”. These allow you to set the point at which the trigger is fully pressed, just like with the DualSense Edge. It’s worth pointing out that the Hall Effect technology used in the thumbsticks is also employed in the pad triggers. Nacon Revolution 5 Pro is available now for pre-order.
