At its annual general meeting, Embracer reported that Valheim has sold 12 million copies worldwide since its release more than two years ago.
Valheim originally released in Early Access in February 2021 and reached 3 million sales in 17 days. By April 2022, Iron Gate Studio’s survival game had reached 10 million copies in sales and was still in Early Access at the time of writing. In March 2023, the game was released on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Once the 10 million mark was reached, publisher Coffee Stain (a subsidiary of Embracer) said it had started looking at Valheim as a potential franchise “within the next decade.”
Embracer also talked about sales of Ghost Ship Games’ Deep Rock Galactic, which reached 7 million copies in sales. Unlike Valheim, the multiplayer shooter was released on PC, Xbox (both One and Series X|S), as well as PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
In January 2023, Ghost Ship announced that Deep Rock had sold over 5.5 million copies since its launch in 2018, with 2.3 million of those sales coming in 2022. Console versions of the game were released the same year and were available on PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass.
Finally, Satisfactory reached 5 million copies in circulation. The Factory Simulator has been in early access since 2019 and sold 1.3 million copies within a year of release.
