new snapdragon 888?
According to recent tests, Apple’s new flagship smartphone iPhone 15 Pro Max demonstrates worse battery life than last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, despite a slightly larger battery.
In Geekerwan’s endurance test, the iPhone 15 Pro Max lasted 7 hours 13 minutes, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max lasted 7 hours 55 minutes. The situation is similar with the younger Pro models – 6 hours versus 6 hours 46 minutes, respectively.
This is due to the fact that the Apple A17 Pro consumes a lot of energy at peak load, as shown by GFXBench. In some tests, the Apple A17 Pro consumes 43% more power than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Will this really be the rebirth of the Snapdragon 888? Only time will tell. However, there is one more nuance. in Genshin Impact, it’s exactly the opposite: with the same FPS, the iPhone 15 Pro with Apple A17 Pro shows almost half the energy consumption than a smartphone with Snapdragon 8 gen 2.
Regarding heating – the situation is also not the most pleasant – the iPhone 15 Pro Max is hotter than its predecessor: not quite significant, by one and a half degrees, but the fact remains a fact.
So, despite the increase in capacity, the iPhone 15 Pro Max disappointed with the results of battery life tests. This is probably due to the insufficient energy efficiency of the new A17 Pro processor. Users planning to buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max should be prepared for worse battery life compared to last year’s model.
