Chinese technology giant Xiaomi has just unveiled its latest addition to the home appliance market: the MIJIA direct-drive washing machine. 12 kg. With features that promise to make a difference in the segment, the new launch is currently on sale on Chinese retail platforms for the impressive price of 1699 yuan, approximately 218 euros.
The highlights of the Xiaomi Mijia Direct-drive 12kg
The MIJIA direct-drive differs from conventional washing machines due to its size. With a thickness of just 540mm, it is 52mm thinner than a traditional 12kg drum machine. The ultra-thin design does not compromise efficiency, but rather enhances the modern aesthetic, reinforced by its “ice white” color.
The big news, however, is not just about its design. This washing machine is equipped with a large color touch display, which makes user interaction more intuitive and practical.
Under the hood, the MIJIA direct-drive comes with some advanced technological features. The inner drum structure has been improved using laser welding technology. This results in a unique piece without the use of fasteners. This drum has an outer diameter of 530mm and rotates using the magnetic levitation principle of the direct-drive motor, which provides silent and smooth operation.
Additionally, the machine is equipped with four shock absorbers and a direct-drive motor which, together, ensure efficient operation and greater durability of the device.
The 12kg Xiaomi direct-drive is smart
One of Xiaomi’s big bets on this machine is its intelligent interaction capacity. The Mijia washing machine has intelligent processors and algorithms that allow it to operate without interruptions.
Additionally, the machine supports updates via OTA (Over-the-Air). This means that Xiaomi will be able to release software updates that will be automatically downloaded and installed on the machine, without the need for user intervention.
For hygiene enthusiasts, this machine also offers features such as steam sterilization, high-temperature cylinder cleaning and a door cover with nano-antibacterial properties.
But the icing on the cake is, without a doubt, the remote control capability. Through the Mijia app, users will be able to remotely customize the wash time, rinse, set the temperature and speed.
Availability and price
Despite the enthusiasm generated around this launch, Xiaomi has not yet revealed information about the availability and price of this washing machine outside Chinese territory. So far, interested parties can find it on Chinese retail platforms for the aforementioned price of 218 euros (1699 yuan).
