Riders from nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi’s VR46 team topped Friday’s sessions at the Indian Grand Prix, which debuts on the MotoGP calendar.
Team leader Marco Bedzecki became the best in free practice and the only one who went under 1 minute and 45 seconds. Eight-time world champion Marc Marquez from the Honda factory team showed second time, and KTM rider Brad Binder was third.
In MotoGP practice, Bedzecchi’s teammate Luca Marini showed the best time. The second was Jorge Martin from Pramac, who lost 8 thousandths of a second to the Italian, and the top three was completed by the leader of the Aprilia factory team, Aleix Espargaro, who became the third and last rider in the session who managed to go within 1 minute and 45 seconds. Marquez showed the fourth time, losing 0.335 seconds to Marini.
In both sessions, the top ten was completed by Marquez’s teammate, 2020 world champion Joan Mir.
