Even before Google can unveil the Pixel 8 series, images of the cheaper Google Pixel 8a leak.
Google is expected to launch the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro on October 4. Only next year would the a-model be discussed, the Pixel 8a. Rumor maker Yabhishekhd already brings this up a bit. On X shares the user says the first images of the Google Pixel 8a. We see a design that we know from the upcoming Pixel 8 series, with the well-known camera strip and strongly rounded corners. However, the corners are still slightly rounder than on the Pixel 8 (Pro).
The frame of the upcoming Pixel 8a appears to be made of metal. It is not known which material Google uses for the back. What is certain is that it will have a glossy finish. What is immediately noticeable is of course the blue color, which the Pixel 8a shares with the 8 Pro. It is certainly not the first time that the A-model has borrowed a color from its high-end counterparts. For example, the Pixel 7a received the same white and gray tones as the high-end Pixel 7 (Pro).
Cheaper Pixel 8
Just like on the Pixel 8, Google puts two cameras in the camera strip of the Pixel 8a. Details about those cameras are not yet known. Presumably it is a main camera with another wide-angle sensor. There is a hole-punch selfie camera at the front.

As for the screen: nothing is known about it yet. However, it is probably an OLED variant, as the fingerprint scanner is in the screen. The screen also seems to have slightly thicker edges than the high-end Pixels. This should come as no surprise: the Pixel 8a lives in the middle class segment and therefore certainly does not have to imitate a high-end smartphone.
A grain of salt
Nothing is known yet about the hardware of the Google Pixel 8a. It is a reasonable assumption that a mid-range variant of the Pixel 8 series is on the way. The question remains, of course, whether it is actually the telephone that was captured on camera. Nevertheless, because it will take at least six to eight months before the device is launched. This also means that the search giant can still make significant adjustments to the device prior to launch.
It is also striking that the company apparently already has a working prototype. We therefore take the images with a grain of salt.
