September 22nd, 2023 at 2:15 p.m. by Alexander Pensler – Payday 3 has been officially available on Steam since September 21st, but despite decent player numbers, press reviews and player ratings are mixed. There are also server problems with long waiting times.
Payday 2 was released ten years ago, but the co-op shooter in which you act as a bank robber is still very popular. The fans have been eagerly awaiting the third part, but many fans of the game series currently seem disillusioned. Although Payday 3 has had almost 80,000 active players on Steam in the last 24 hours, the game’s press and reviews are only average and the servers are causing problems.
“Balanced” reviews on Steam
At the rating aggregators Metacritic and Opencritic, Payday 3 is currently rated with 69/100 and 72/100 points respectively, which is only enough for a “decent” (“fair”) rating at Opencritic. So far, just over 8,100 players have given a rating of the heist simulator on Steam, but here too Payday 3 is only rated “balanced” due to some negative reviews.

Some Steam reviews speak of waiting times of 1.5 hours in the lobby (user “flyboyOG”) or 20 minutes of matchmaking time for a single game (user “Punisher”). But there are also positive voices, with Steam user “Pheyzon” saying that Payday 3 is a “diamond in the rough”. If you look back at the release of part 2 of the franchise, the predecessor only became a long-running hit thanks to numerous bug fixes and content updates.
Who is supposed to play all this? Four game heavyweights will appear on Steam next week
