Amazing price. Attractive design
After weeks of rumors and hints, Tecno has finally launched its first foldable smartphone, the Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G. Unlike most flip phones, this one is aimed at the mid-range price range, but it still has a lot of the fancy features you’d expect from a really expensive flip phone.
The brand takes inspiration from space in its design, with a circular cover screen known as “Planet” and an integrated camera module depicting the “Asteroid Belt”. On the back panel, the brand has used premium classic patterned leather (vegan leather).
The cover display of the smartphone measures 1.32 inches diagonally with an AMOLED panel resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. On the inside, the phone features a 6.9-inch flexible LTPO AMOLED display with FHD+ (1080 x 2460 pixels) resolution, 20.5:9 aspect ratio, 1000 nits peak brightness and up to 120Hz refresh rate. The brand claims that even after 200 thousand folds, the display will remain virtually wrinkle-free.
One of its highlights is the 64 MP (main) + 13 MP (ultra-wide-angle) camera system. The star of the show is the ultra-sensitive 64MP RGBW rear camera, which boasts 60% increased light absorption, reduced noise, and increased color accuracy thanks to the RGBW pixel format. The 32MP front camera with dual flash and autofocus is a game changer for selfie lovers. It boasts the industry’s first front-facing flashlight in a flip phone, providing perfect illumination for selfies even in low-light conditions. The camera’s auto-focus accurately tracks your subject for clear, detailed selfies and vlogs.
The FreeCam system allows users to explore creative angles and capture unique images. Stable at any angle of 30-150˚, it is ideal for group shots, rear camera selfies and low-angle shots. Plus, you can control the camera using gestures and voice commands, so you don’t have to touch it while shooting.
In terms of performance, the Phantom V Flip 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8050 5G chipset.
In addition, the device has a 4000 mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging, which promises to fill 33% charge in just 10 minutes. The Phantom V Flip will provide multiple connectivity options including Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.3 and 5G with support for 14 different 5G bands.
Additionally, Tecno promises to launch scented protective cases for the Phantom V Flip 5G soon. According to the brand, the cover contains aroma microcapsules during the leather’s manufacturing process, with the scent slowly released under pressure, heat from friction, or natural diffusion. The scent can last for over a year under normal conditions of use. It will be available in three scents: Rose, Seashore or Cologne.
The smartphone is available in black and purple colors. The Phantom V Flip 5G will be launched in India first and the early order price for the Phantom V Flip 5G in India will be INR 49,999 ($598).
