The sixth episode of the Ahsoka series finally features the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn and he did not come empty-handed! What if his colleagues were zombies?
Since the beginning, the Ahsoka series has been teasing the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, an iconic villain of the saga! He finally makes his comeback in episode 6 with somewhat different StormTroopers. As a reminder, Thrawn and his soldiers have been drifting in space for at least 9 years. So one might wonder what kept all these numbers alive on a ship for a decade. Another mysterious detail is that there are no soldiers with uncovered faces apart from Thrawn: no officer, no commander, only StormTroopers in modified outfits. Moreover, these outfits seem to be patched up with red fabrics. And their leader, Enoch, wears a golden mask strongly resembling a death mask. Many clues seem to support this theory: Thrawn is accompanied by the zombies created by the sisters of the night!
Captain Enoch
Troopers linked to the night sisters?
Thrawn likely has a connection to the Nightsisters. He seems to know them and has already mentioned their powers. In any case, everything seems to suggest that a link exists between the soldiers of the Grand Admiral and these witches. First, the red fabric previously mentioned is typical of the outfits of the sisters of Dathomir. Even more, the deaf subtitles describe the soldiers as NightTroopers, a contraction of NightSisters and StormTroopers. Also, Enoch speaks in a language other than basic (the most widespread language in the Star Wars universe). Could it be an old dialect of Dathomir or Peridea? In other words, a language specific to witches.
Or even Zombie Troopers themselves?
Indeed, other clues point to this conclusion. First, Thrawn mentions diminished numbers during the trip, which subtext means that soldiers died. What if they all were? Additionally, Enoch is a biblical character who was able to pass through the afterlife without dying. He is also the one who lived the shortest, a name therefore strongly linked to death. Also note that one of the specialties of the witches of Dathomir is to raise armies of zombies. Something they do in Clone Wars to repel the assault of the separatists. These zombies are not unknown in the Star Wars canon. In the animated series, these ghosts are not gifted with words, but we do not hear any words coming from the NightTroopers’ helmets. Finally, at the end of the episode, Thrawn tells the matriarchs “I will need your dark magic once again.” This then means that it has already been used. Ahsoka then brings to the forefront elements that had remained in the background until then. We have noticed a significant development of the night sisters recently, whether in this series, but also Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the video games which tell the story of Cal Kestis. As a reminder, the first six episodes of Ahsoka are currently available on Disney+, the next one comes out on Wednesday!
