Former Apple chief designer Jony Ive will likely collaborate with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on a new artificial intelligence device.
Ive and Altman are reportedly discussing creating new hardware for the AI era. It is not yet known what exactly the device is intended for and what it will look like.
SoftBank CEO Masaeshi Son, a well-known investor in AI projects, is also involved in developing the possible concept.
OpenAI is the developer of the popular chatbot ChatGPT. I wonder if Ive’s collaboration with OpenAI will lead to competition with Apple, which is also working on its own AI project.
So far, the project is at an early stage of discussion. But it would be interesting to see how Jony Ive’s expertise in gadget design applies to the field of artificial intelligence.
