Head coach of Krivoy Rog “Krivbass” Yuri Vernidub shared his thoughts about the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup against Odessa “Chernomorets”
– The first half was not bad in our performance, and the second too. We were a little unlucky; we left the Ukrainian Cup, but with our heads held high. We played today against a strong opponent, also high in the table, and we also want to fight for high places. Nothing bad happened. I just wish Chernomorets to move on and reach the final. Many of the strong clubs were relegated at this stage, this is football: both Dnepr-1 and Dynamo.
Congratulations to my hometown Zhitomir on reaching the quarterfinals. We will now prepare for the Movement in the championship. This is also a good opponent, a young, powerful team that plays good football. Well, then “Chernomorets” again. The most important thing is that everyone is alive and well after today’s match.
– What was more important for you than the game: to beat Chernomorets in the Cup today or in the championship soon?
– I wanted to win both matches. There weren’t even other thoughts in my head. We played only to win. It so happened that we conceded in the 93rd minute. We will be stronger now. Regarding the game: in the first half, I don’t want to offend Odessa residents, name at least one moment of the opponent at our goal. But we still had chances to score, we were unlucky. I pierced the skin there. You have a good team, good performers. The same Badibanga, Dada, Iede are high-quality foreign players.
Let us remind you that Krivbass lost to Chernomorets with a minimum score of 1:2.
