Aroged, Bandung – Ahead of the release of Modern Warfare 3, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone have started season 6 on September 27 2023. This season of course has a Halloween theme with spooky elements.
There is a crossover with Todd MacFarlane’s Spawn comic series. Not only that, Zombie Royale mode and The Haunting event will also return. This season is the last competitive period before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 officially launches.
Season 6 Update for Modern Warfare 2
There are four new maps in Modern Warfare starting at the launch of season 6, namely two Core Maps and two Gunfight Maps. Both each consist of one new map and one classic map.
The first Core Map is La Casa which is set in Las Almas, Mexico. In this new map from Infinity Ward, this map is a luxury estate surrounded by high walls and features a dual-wing layout, dormitories to the east and a large dining room and offices to the west.
Koro Village is the second Core Map that will appear in season 6. This map, which comes from Call of Duty 2 (2005), is certainly familiar to loyal fans. This snowy countryside is perfect for winter battles, whether inside buildings or on the streets.
King, the favorite Gunfight Map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) returns in Modern Warfare 2 season 6. This map is a warehouse that is suitable for relying on team tactics and speed. Meanwhile, Fight becomes a Gunfight Map that looks different. Fight invites Operators to always move through various shoot houses which makes close-quarter combat easier.
Starting next midseason, Call of Duty will again hold The Haunting event to welcome Halloween during midseason. There are changes to two maps and four modes with a scary twist.
El Asilo is the first map to receive changes to welcome the Dia de Muertos festival. Meanwhile, the Embassy map is said to have been split by a scary zombie attack.
Haunting Domination comes into vogue with the first Halloween twist where the Scarecrow becomes the marker for each flag. Second, Haunting Kill Confirmed/Grind invites Operators to collect Skulls instead of Dog Tags. Haunting Drop Zone Drop Zone adds a scary crate twist while controlling and defending the Drop Zone to earn points. Lastly, Haunting Infected involves Zombies that will attack the Operator.

Season 6 update for Warzone
Just like Modern Warfare, there is a lot of new Warzone content from The Haunting event in midseason. First, there is Operation Nightmare which invites players to investigate the frequency of eldritch appearances after the Hellmouth incident in Al Mazrah. Operation Nightmare can be enjoyed on October 17 2023 with various mysterious rewards.
Apart from Al Mazrah, supernatural activity also occurred in Vondel which triggered a total evacuation of the entire city and surrounding areas. In this event entitled Vondead, a zombie outbreak appears due to a witch, triggering the canals to turn blood red. The source of this anomalous activity is said to come from the Graveyard which must be eradicated. However, many of Vondel’s POIs at that time were full of undead, as were the Demonic Altars scattered everywhere as a source of zombie activity.
The Zombie Royale mode from the previous The Haunting returns with a new twist and some old elements, including Rebirth of the Dead. This mode is found on the Al Mazrah and Vondel maps. During a Zombie Royale match, eliminated Operators become zombies instead of the Gulag. Once you become a zombie, there are several abilities to eradicate Operators who are still human. Squads that succeed in defeating enemies in the form of humans or undead can win the match.
Vondead Lockdown is a returning mode from season 4. This time, Operators will play in this mode on the night version of the Vondel map. The rules are still the same, namely the Squad must earn points from controlling and defending the zone around the map.
Apart from events and modes, The Haunting also presents various equipment and items such as Captured Souls which are obtained after killing and defeating monsters. These souls can be exchanged for attractive rewards after each match is completed.
Zombies who have been defeated usually leave behind a cursed version of the loot box called the Haunted Box which contains plates, ammunition and other equipment. There is also the Bloodseeker Grenade which is called a parasitic live grenade.
There is a Spawn Collaboration Reward in the Battle Pass!
This season specifically, Call of Duty presents a collaboration with the Spawn comic series by Todd MacFarlane. Of course, Spawn appears as a new Operator who is a highlight in this season’s Battle Pass. Players can obtain Operator Skin Spawn after completing 20 sectors of the Battle Pass and reaching Tier 100.
Spawn’s real identity, Al Simmons is also present as a new Operator. Players who purchase the Battle Pass this season are entitled to obtain Operator Al Simmons. There is also an Operator Skin for him, namely Burned Spawn. Various Spawn-themed Operator Skins are also present as Battle Pass rewards, namely Creepy Clown for Fender, Violator for Konig, Distruptor for Horangi, Soul Crusher for Mila, Nikto Spawn for Nikto, and Gaia for Nova.
There are also three weapons that will appear as rewards in the Battle Pass. The three are the TR-76 Geist Assault Rifle, SMG ISO 9mm, and Dual Kamas.
Various Other Content in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone
Welcoming The Haunting event, Call of Duty brings back the Soul Capture Event in all Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone modes with a horror twist. Every time you successfully eradicate an enemy, players can obtain a Soul. Souls can be exchanged for various attractive rewards.
There is also a Daily Login Reward. Players have the opportunity to obtain limited cosmetic item rewards during The Haunting.
Season 6 doesn’t end with just the Spawn collaboration, Call of Duty also collaborates with various other horror IPs to present new Operators. Firstly, what is unique is that there are two characters from Blizzard’s Diablo who are Operators, namely Inarius and Lilith.
Skeletor, the iconic villain from He-Man, appears as an Operator in the Skeletor Bundle complete with Blueprint and Emblem. Ash Williams from Evil Dead also appears as an Operator in Evil Dead Bundle 2 complete with Blueprint and other gear. If that’s enough, there is a Hellsing Bundle which contains Alucard as an Operator.
Lastly, Call of Duty will also provide the DOOM Tracer Weapon Bundle. The bundle contains a Doom Chainsaw melee weapon, an iconic weapon from the Doom franchise that guarantees it can destroy enemies ruthlessly.
