In the material Varietywhere they talked about the potential filming date for the adaptation of Minecraft and the new “Superman”they also mentioned fate «Gladiator 2».
As it turned out, Ridley Scott managed to shoot more than half of the film before the start of the Actors Guild strike. Production stopped in mid-July, which is when the strike began.
Hollywood studios expect to return to work on major blockbusters immediately after the actors’ protest ends, but it is unclear when this will happen. A new round of negotiations is scheduled for October 2.
Film studios are very interested in ending the strike quickly, given the industry freeze that occurred due to these events. Previously, an agreement was reached with the Writers Guild of America.
True, the same cannot be said about the negotiations between the Actors Guild and gaming companies, which may also be included in the strike – for now it concerns only films and TV series.
The second Gladiator will tell about events 25 years after the original, and the plot will focus on the nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) – Lucius (Paul Mescal). Russell Crowe will not appear in the second film, which, given the fate of his original character, is unlikely to come as a surprise.
The film’s release was scheduled for November 2024, but due to the delay, the release may be postponed. And soon, by the way, another work by Scott will be released in cinemas – “Napoleon” with Joaquin Phoenix.
