October 1st, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. by Michael Miskulin – Valve not only surprisingly announced Counter-Strike 2 at the beginning of the year, but also surprisingly released the game last Wednesday after a long beta phase as an update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. However, some important and popular features were lost.
With the release of Counter-Strike 2, the original Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was completely replaced by the new online shooter. CS:GO can now only be played as an offline demo. Surprised players who noticed missing features in the predecessor are now reporting their concerns on Reddit and X. A Reddit user created a list of major CS:GO features that are now gone from Counter-Strike 2. These include several competitive and wingman maps, workshop maps and entire game modes such as Arms Race, Flying Scoutsman and Danger Zone. Players are now wondering if these modes will return.
Meanwhile, GamesRadar reports that some Arms Race maps have been leaked, which could indicate a possible return of the game mode. However, fans of this game mode were unhappy that Valve removed this and other modes without warning. Another group of players is completely wrong: Valve has also removed support for players on the Mac. It is unknown whether Mac support will return.
Other players have also complained about Counter-Strike 2’s servers. Valve has increased the tick rate thanks to a new system, but some international players have found that CS2’s new servers are said to have resulted in a “nearly unplayable” game due to high ping. Valve has these Server problems have now been resolved and explained that they had “reached the limits of server capacity in various regions”. The developers said they would add more server capacity as quickly as possible. It remains questionable whether the developers will also take the other missing features into account.
