From October 2023, German households can hope for cheaper gas prices. This good news comes from the reduction of two gas levies to zero euros: a decision announced by Trading Hub Europe (THE).
For an average single-family household with an annual gas consumption of 20,000 kWh, this means a saving of around 5 percent or 130 euros per year. Single households with a consumption of 5,000 kWh will save around 33 euros per year, while couple households with a consumption of 12,000 kWh will have to spend around 78 euros less per year.
However, the lower gas prices will not automatically be passed on to existing customers. New customers can benefit from this change by concluding contracts with good conditions.
