Want an efficient office laptop that isn’t as expensive as a MacBook? Many manufacturers offer ultrabooks for less than 1,000 euros, such as Asus with its Vivobooks and Huawei with its Matebooks. It is moreover the latter which interests us here since the Matebook D 15 with a Ryzen 7 takes advantage of the French Days to be displayed at the price of 599.99 euros instead of 849.99 euros in the official store.
Much less in shape in the smartphone market, Huawei is moving on by focusing on other devices such as its connected watches and laptop PCs. The Chinese manufacturer has notably developed its Matebook range in order to offer products of better quality. During the French Days, one of the latest models, the Huawei Matebook D 15 equipped with a Ryzen 7, benefits from a reduction of 250 euros in the official store.
The Huawei Matebook D 15 AMD (2021) in a few points
A sleek, transportable chassis A Ryzen 7 5700U with 16GB of RAM Solid battery life with fast charging
Instead of the usual 849.99 euros, the Huawei Matebook D 15 AMD (2021) is now available on sale at 599.99 euros in the official store.
A minimalist ultrabook, but pleasant to look at
If Huawei says it is targeting young consumers with its latest Matebook, and therefore those with less money, it does not neglect its design. This laptop takes on the look of its predecessors with its clean and minimalist shapes, the silver finishes can make you think of a MacBook, especially since this chassis is thin and light with a thickness of 17 mm and a weight of 1.56 kg . Thus, the Matebook D 15 has a discreet appearance and does not stand out too much in a meeting room or on the university benches, and especially in the backpack.
Even if the connectivity accommodates a USB-C port and three USB-A ports, without forgetting the 3.5 mm jack port, we can regret the absence of an HDMI port and an SD or microSD card reader. As for the 15.6-inch screen, the Huawei Matebook D 15 has a Full HD definition IPS-LCD panel (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) which gives it wide viewing angles. This screen also has an anti-reflective treatment to be readable in direct sunlight and an occupancy rate of 87% of the chassis.
Solid performance with Ryzen 7
This configuration of the Huawei Matebook D 15 features a processor that has it in its belly: a Ryzen 7 5700U. This eight-core CPU has a base frequency of 1.8 GHz which can be boosted up to 4.3 GHz and is assisted by 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. It also integrates an AMD Radeon Graphics graphics solution so you can indulge in graphic creations and, why not, run some light games. Storage is managed by a 512 GB NVMe SSD.
Finally, in terms of endurance, the 42 Wh battery can provide around seven hours of autonomy, at least that’s what emerges from the configurations that were tested. It is possible that that of this Matebook D 15 with a Ryzen 7 is almost similar, or slightly less. In any case, it is possible to enjoy fast charging with a 65W USB-C charger capable of offering two hours of battery life in 15 minutes of charging and a full recharge in just over an hour .
