Hunt: Showdown begins a new round today with Tide of Corruption.
Today marks the start of the new Live Event “Tide of Corruption” in Hunt: ShowdownHunt: Showdown, bringing new features to the Bayou and offering players the chance to earn a huge range of rewards, including two new Legendary Hunters, weapons, equipment and an explosive new consumable, the Fire Beetle.
Players can expect a brand new story that continues where Tide of Shadows left off. They can commit their hunters to new covenants, each with a set of unique traits that they can equip.
By collecting Event Points, they can also take on the new Dark Inferno special condition, which sets fire to areas of the Bayou on nighttime maps. The “Tide of Corruption” live event starts today and runs until November 29, 2023.
“We’re thrilled to launch our biggest and best live event yet,” said Scott Lussier, design director for Hunt: Showdown.
“Players will face a range of new challenges as we bring back the popular Inferno special condition from the Devil’s Moon live event, this time setting areas of the map ablaze at night. With the new Fire Beetle consumable, players can rain fire on their enemies from the air and trigger chain explosions throughout the bayou. The new story takes players deeper into the world and eerie atmosphere of Hunt: Showdown. We’re incredibly excited to see what new strategies players come up with for the challenges and features.”
Features for the Tide of Corruption live event include:
Dark inferno
If the Dark Inferno is active during the live event, areas of the Bayou will be set on fire and players may have to rethink their strategies. Hunters could adjust their routes to avoid the fire or use the flames to hide their position and surprise enemies.
This new special condition will occur on select days during the Tide of Corruption live event.
There is now a new fire beetle
The new Fire Beetle consumable is an evolution of the other beetles available in the game, giving hunters overhead vision to help them find and track their prey.
The Fire Beetle provides the same benefits, but can also be detonated to explode in a ball of flames, dealing damage to nearby hunters and monsters and igniting flammable objects within range.
Packed
The Tide of Corruption introduces three new pacts that players can pledge allegiance to: the Pact of the Mad, the Pact of Death, and the Pact of Hell.
Each pact offers players the opportunity to utilize a range of pact-specific properties, creating new ways to achieve their goals. As players progress through the event, unlocked background information will reveal more about the nature and motivations of each group. Each pact also gives players the chance to receive unique rewards.
Rewards
The new Battle Pass offers both free and premium paths to unlock different reward tiers as you play through the live event.
Rewards include two new Legendary Hunters, the Burnt Marshall and the Butcher’s Knife, a new baseball bat melee weapon, and a variety of other new weapons and gear, including the Vetterli 71 Karabiner Zyklon, the Derringer Pennyshot, and the Bornheim No. 3 Silencer. The most challenging and rewarding live event in Hunt: Showdown history also offers weapon amulets and blood token prizes.
