Despite its venerable age, Portal 2 still retains the laurels of the most highly rated game in the history of Steam, but Valve is in no hurry to somehow develop its cult franchise.
But this is done by enthusiastic players who announced Portal: Revolution – a free modification that represents the prehistory of the second part – the action will unfold before the plot of the sequel in the ruins of the Aperture Science complex. New adventures will take about eight hours.
During the course of the game, players will meet new characters, as well as various never-before-seen gameplay mechanics and improvements. The authors say that the complexity of the puzzles picks up where the original left off, but testing has shown that almost everyone can solve the puzzles here – it just takes a different amount of time.
By the way, the authors managed to obtain official approval from Valve. Portal: Revolution will be distributed completely free of charge, but you will need to have Portal 2 itself.
The release is scheduled for January 5, 2024.
